You will use that nickname in the address field when composing messages rather than the person's real name and address. Type the nickname on the NEW NICKNAME field and hit create. Then on the name and address field that appear, type in the name of the person and the email address. Make sure you hit the ADD button once you are done.

To edit a particular nickname on the address book, choose the nickname from the drop-down menu. and hit edit. Make appropriate changes and click on ADD to activate the changes.

From now on you have only to enter the nickname in the To: field instead of that person's email address.

Note that the "Global Addressbook Search" link in the Address Book window does not work on this system.
